Common causes of a system that will not cool
- Low refrigerant, which nearly always means a leak worth finding rather than simply topping off
- A capacitor that has failed, one of the most common single-part failures
- Condenser coils packed with cottonwood, grass clippings, or dust
- A frozen evaporator coil, usually from restricted airflow
- Contactor and control faults
- A condensate drain that has backed up and tripped the safety switch
On topping off refrigerant
A sealed system does not consume refrigerant. If it is low, it is leaking somewhere. We would rather find the leak than sell you the same recharge every summer.
